This is a project i recently completed with my daughters. We had enormous fun doing it and learn a lot, plus it now makes a beautiful wall hanging.

*We made a template of Africa by drawing a grid over an A4 Africa map and then drawing a bigger grid on to the large paper sheet. It helps to know Africa fits roughly on to a 6×6 grid!
*Then i carefully copied the coastline by eye and pinned it on to a remnant of fabric.
*We used Bondaweb to make the Africa cut-out stick to the piece of heavy denim and stitched a tube at the top for a pole to slot through.
*Now for the fun bit! Lots and lots of Hama-ing!!! The girls made a huge quantity of patterns and picked the ones they were most pleased with for the wall hanging. The patterns were inspired by Book 8 and Book 10 but the girls have since made up some simple patterns of their own which i have put here to get you started. However, the more complex versions in the books may suit your hanging better.
