About
Hama Beads
Hama Beads are cylindrical beads made
in a variety of colours, that can be placed on to pegboards.
After completing a pegboard, the completed work can
be ironed so they melt together, creating a permanent
plastic design. The pegboard itself is reuseable.
Hama beads are available in 3 sizes
Midi is the most common and suitable
for 5+, excellent for practising
small motor skills for children, but still
small enough at 5mm wide, to make
beautiful pieces of craft for decorations,
pictures and gifts, while being robust
enough to use as play pieces.
Maxi at 10mm wide are chunky beads for
the 3+ age range, giving an experience of making
pattern, filling in one of the shaped boards and playing
with colour.
Mini beads are 2.5mm wide and suitable
for 10+ and mummys! They produce cross-stitch
delicacy patterns and are extremely versatile, making
excellent beads for decorating greetings cards, making
mobiles or giving a facelift to a dull wall. They take
some patience!
One mum writes:
"Since discovering the colourful world of Hama
our family's play times have never been so exciting!
The versatile midi beads appeal to both my children and
myself - even Nanny has had a go!
As home educators we are always looking for new ideas
to present to the children, and with economy in mind
Hama is always a great choice.
To the children they are a fun manipulative toy which gives
them a great sense of achievement, and I can see that all
the time they are having fun they are improving their concentration
and learning about colours and patterns."
