Christmas Tree Ornament Hama Bead Patterns

Christmas Tree Ornament Hama Bead Patterns

It’s been a while since I cooked up anything new for the Christmas Design page but we couldn’t help noticing that all our previous designs were getting thousands of hits a day. We thoughts it was time to add something fresh to the site. These Christmas baubles came about as part of a family crafty day; in fact, it tells you lots about a small family business. I paid 2 daughters £3 each to make a big set of these and another daughter £4 to draw them all out for me! So I can keep paying them for their hard work, it would be lovely if you would buy your hama bead supplies from our shop at CraftMerrily Here are easy to print small versions of the patterns. I will be creating a PDF of full sized patterns for you to download tomorrow I did make a slight error in the green one of these and forgot to colours few spaces, sorry! That was me, not Maddy, she got all her ones right. I also made a couple with thin hanging holes. They will work but if you have a rectangle board make them on that and add a...

Melted Hama Bead Candle Holders

Melted Hama Bead Candle Holders

I’m on a mission to find new things to do with Hama Beads and I have to say, I think this is a bit of a winner. I’ve not seen anything quite like this before. Over on Simple Crafts we’ve been using up a stash of baby food jars by doing different crafts with them. Last week, after some success with melted hama bead bowls, I had this little brainwave. 5 baby food jars, each filled with layers of beads that relate to a season, plus one in Christmas colours for luck. Maddy made a simple paper funnel to make it easier to do and poured beads in in layers that just looked right. Once that was done, we popped them in the oven at 180C until they had melted enough to just look ‘right’. Once they were cooked, I took them out while still hot and popped a metal tea light case in to the top, pressing it down to make the top of the beads mould flat and the tea light sit lower than the rim of the jar. I’m going to fill these with water when I light them, for added sparkle and to help just...

The Owl and the Penguin went to see…

The Owl and the Penguin went to see…

… if they could be married even though they were birds technically unlikely to meet anywhere other than slightly tenuous blog posts! Last week Amelie wanted to make an owl out of Hama Beads. We played around at the design for a while and never got it quite right. Looking back at it now, he needed some ears!!! However, we did come up with this owl design which we quite liked. Here he is in printable form. What we did discover is that with very little effort, you could turn the same pattern into a very creditable penguin. Two for the price of one!!!! Making them also inspired me to try some other owl patterns and I came up with these. These first featured over on our themed craft site, Simple Crafts. We thought featuring an owl (nice and Halloween/Autumn) and a Penguin was the perfect way to go from spooky to sparkly as Winter and Christmas beckons! And just in case you need a few more bird pictures, here is our Hama Bead Robin again too. You can make him, and the small owls, on a hexagon pegboard. We provide all these resources free of charge. If you...
